Tips & Solutions
There Is A Solution To Every Challenge; You Just Need To Know Where To Look.
Our society has a tendency to focus on the problem, rather than the solution. Frequently, children become overwhelmed, depressed and anxious because they don't know how to cope with their problems (and often because they see themselves as the problems). Children need guidance and support, so they can begin to heal.

You Were A Couple Before You Became Parents; Now What?
It may be difficult to maintain the closeness you once had when it was just the two of you. Parenting is a very challenging and sometimes frustrating responsibility that can change the dynamics of a couple's relationship. What's important is for the parents to respect each other and their children by using a consistent parenting style. If the parents are not consistent in their parenting techniques, they and their children usually experience frustration and confusion.

Educate Yourself Before You Medicate A Child.
As this generation of children displays more emotional and psychological problems than ever before, parents are increasingly uncertain about how to meet their children's needs. Many people in today's society believe medication is the solution to a child's behavioral issues. Parents need to understand the root of their child's issues and educate themselves on the pros and cons of medication before considering it for their child.

"Since we've been working together Erika's a different child. She's still sensitive and wonderful but she's outgoing. She's confident, and her self esteem is so much better. She has pride. She's light, she has tons of friends. People call her all the time for play dates and where she used to stand on the side lines, because she was uncomfortable, now she's right in there and leading the group."

There are so many issues children are struggling with in today's society. Many times children don't share their fears and concerns with their parents. Through coaching, A Child's Voice empowers children, becomes their voice and their friend, and helps relieve the pressure and stress they are experiencing. We provide kids with tools, information, and new insights. She then partners with parents to explain her observations and offer concrete recommendations.

We can also work directly with parents to better understand their children, assist in strengthening their relationship, and enhance their parenting skills. In most cases, today's moms and dads are parenting their children the way they were parented years ago. Unfortunately, these old-fashioned methods don't work well with today's savvy kids. A Child's Voice shows parents the tools and thought processes that will create better communication and interaction with their children.

Raising self-esteem in children can be key to helping them to lead fulfilling lives that are not bogged down with materialism. In a recent study appearing in the Bergen Record, researchers have honed in on another wonderful reason to make sure children can feel comfortable with themselves. Communication is vital to any relationship, especially one with a child. Young children are particularly in need of understanding and patience. Learning to keep that bridge of communication open when your child is young will be crucial to your child's development and self-confidence as a pre-teen and teenager, when the tough choices are upon them. When children are entering puberty, parents must reinforce unconditional love to their children and be available to guide them as they start to date, and face decisions regarding sex, alcohol and drugs.  Older children need parental support and advice.  To keep communication flowing between you and your child, know your child at each stage (pre-school, middle-school, high-school), be open to their thoughts, ideas, goals and dreams, love them unconditionally, do not pass your "baggage" onto them and try not to pass judgment.

When necessary, A Child's Voice can act as a facilitator in dealing with children's educators. Whether the child has a learning issue or the parent is asked to medicate his/her child for A.D.D., meetings can be arranged with the Child Study Team, to see that a child is placed in the right school setting. We can also review Individual Education Plans (I.E.P.s) to establish the optimum educational options for the child.
